Library Human Resources facilitates all matters pertinent to unions, associations, bargaining agreements/labor contracts, and bargaining unit issues in partnership with campus Central Human Resources, Labor Relations and University of California, Office of the President (UCOP), Labor Relations.
The University of California, Berkeley currently has 16 different bargaining units on campus. Each bargaining unit has a separate contract with a union that represents all employees covered under that unit.
Within the Library, five bargaining units represent selected Library employees whom are covered by the contract issued by their respective bargaining unit. The five bargaining units representing selected Library employees are:
- Clerical & Allied Service Unit (Teamsters 2010 – CX)
- Professional Librarian Unit (UC-AFT – LX)
- Research Support Professional Unit (UPTE – RX)
- Service Unit (AFSCME-SX)
- Technical Unit (UPTE – TX)
The Director of Library Human Resources represents the Berkeley campus for the University of California in collective bargaining with the University Council-American Federation of Teachers, Professional Librarian Unit. If you require guidance, contact LHRD.
