This set of tables shows the approved abbreviations for serial titles printed on spines during binding. It can be used to create a shortened serial title to add to a holdings 911$d (bind title) field.

Essential components of circulating items

This Collection Services Division policy identifies which components of newly acquired resources are considered to be essential to retain, describe, and preserve. This policy also applies to the preservation of circulating collections, as well as any changes that may be made to a catalog record.

Monographs: additional copies added at shelving locations

This procedure outlines the process for checking whether a newly received item arriving at a shelving location from a source other than Acquisitions/Metadata Services can be added to an existing fully cataloged record or if it needs to be referred to your local Tech Lead or Cataloging Unit for records work before adding to the collection. This documentation is NOT to be used for replacements for lost copies (forthcoming).

Item record basic info for tech processing and cataloging staff

Item records in Alma provide the basis for a wide range of operations in technical and public services, such as checking things in/out, placing requests, billing, labeling, binding, tracking of in-process materials, and compiling statistics. Every item record in Alma must be attached to a holdings record, which is attached to the bibliographic (bib) record.
