- Start at an acquisitions desk location
- Do an Electronic Collection search
- Find desired collection and click ‘Activate’ (note, if there is a home icon next to the collection, it is already activated)
- You will be taken to the Activation Wizard for Collection and Services set up.
- Local Electronic Collection Information:
Add/edit public name and url as needed.
Mark bib suppressed/not suppressed as needed. (This is collection level bib. A degruyter ebook package bib would be suppressed, for example, a Brill database bib would not…) - Full Text Service: Select “activate the electronic collection service”
- Select “make service available’ (Assuming we know our access has been turned on by the vendor/publisher).
- If we bought a full collection for the current year that corresponds precisely to the Alma collection, select “automatically activate new portfolios”
- Add any notes as needed in the provided space. Hit Next.
- 10. Full Text Service Linking Parameters: This is where you fill in special linking variables if applicable, ex Proquest client ID.
- Full Text Service Proxy Set Up: Turn on/off proxy as needed. Always proxy at the Service level, if resource is not free. Hit Next .
- Select Activation Method: Indicate activation type: 1) All 2) selected; upload excel file of titles 3) selected; manually activate titles. NOTE: please see Related Resources for excel file specifications for upload. (can also add local portfolios to file upload - see ‘add local portfolios’ on same page of wizard.
- Hit “Activate”
Huge packages like Jstor can take a while, such as a day to activate. They get queued up for activation. Alma can only run one job at once.
You can monitor the progress of jobs under Admin > Monitor Jobs > Running/ History. History shows if it completed successfully. - Return to your task list. Find collection, click ellipses menu and click “Done”.
