Candidates for LAUC-B Offices
Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, LAUC-B Executive Committee
Jennifer Nelson
I am pleased to be a candidate for the office of Vice Chair/Chair-Elect of LAUC-B. I am the librarian at the Robbins Collection at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. In my almost ten years at Berkeley I have served on the Executive Committee both as Secretary and as Treasurer, as well as serving as co-Chair of the 2013 Conference Planning Committee, Vice Chair and Chair of the Committee on Affiliated Library Affairs, member of the Committee on Research, and Chair during my last year (2012-13) of a three-year term on the Committee on Appointment, Promotion, and Advancement. My experience on CAPA was fruitfully brought to bear as a member of the 2014 Task Force to Revise Berkeley Procedures for Librarian Review in light of the new MOU. The perspective I have gained from my involvement on these LAUC-B committees--as well as on other campus-wide library initiatives and projects--will inform my role as Vice Chair/Chair-Elect as we continue to advocate for, and advise on, professional and governance issues for Librarians, even in the face of numerous challenges, budgetary and otherwise. I would particularly look forward to playing a key role in laying the groundwork for a positive working relationship with the new University Librarian. If elected, it would be my honor to serve and to represent my librarian colleagues at UC Berkeley as the division Vice Chair/Chair-Elect of LAUC-B.
Secretary, LAUC-B Executive Committee
I'm pleased to be running for LAUC-B Secretary. I've served LAUC-B on many committees over the years, including ExComm, CAPA, Conference Planning and others, and would be honored to serve on the Executive Committee again. I've also served on national committees, and am aware of the value of prompt, coherent minutes. I've been at the Law Library since 1995, and would value the opportunity to travel to the central campus once a month.
Thanks for your consideration, and I hope to have the opportunity to serve.
I'm pleased to accept the nomination to run for Secretary to the LAUC-B Executive Committee. It's been a pleasure to serve LAUC-B on the Committee for Professional Development as the Affiliated Library Representative (2013-2015) and as Co-Chair (2014-2015). I joined the Environmental Design Archives in 2012 as a Processing Archivist, and have truly enjoyed serving on LAUC-B and the connections I have made outside my repository. Serving as Secretary would be a wonderful opportunity to further serve our campus community.
I look forward to having the chance to continue contributing to LAUC-B.
Treasurer, LAUC-B Executive Committee
I am aware of the challenges LAUC-B is facing now that its budget is no longer funded by central campus and the hard choices that had to be made to cut that budget. Careful stewardship of the organization's finances is crucial and if elected as treasurer I would give this the attention it deserves. As Head of the Instruction Services Division and Librarian for History and History of Science, I have managed an array of different budgets and am familiar with campus and library processes. I currently serve on the LAUC-B Nominating and Elections Committee and served previously on the LAUC-B Committee on Research. I welcome the opportunity to continue to contribute to this valuable organization.
I've been a reference librarian in the Environmental Design Library since 2007, acting as head for the past four years. During that period I served as a LAUC-B library representative from 2008-2009 and am currently co-chair, with Lisa Ngo, of the LAUC-B Conference Committee. As acting head of a sizable subject specialty library I've become adept at managing limited resources to provide optimal levels of service. I work well with administrators, have been successful securing external funding, and am capable of making tough decisions regarding the allocation of scarce resources. I look forward to the opportunity to work with the LAUC-B Executive Committee to secure our long term financial viability.
Library Representative, LAUC-B Executive Committee
Jianye He
I'm honored to be nominated as the candidate for LAUC-B Representative. I've served on the LAUC-B Nominations & Elections Committee, and I am looking forward to serving on the Executive Committee again. I have worked in the library for nearly 10 years now. Throughout the years, I have been actively participating in library professional activities and trying to keep myself up-to-date on renovations and new trends in the field. I am enthusiastic, vibrant, collaborative and always eager to learn more.
Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to have the opportunity to serve.

I am honored to be a nominee for Library Representative on the LAUC-B Executive Committee. I have seen how influential LAUC can be in helping librarians be successful. I have personally received a LAUC research grant and have had the opportunity to contribute to job-shadowing activities through my membership on the LAUC-B Committee on Diversity. Additionally, I enjoyed serving as LAUC-B Secretary in the past, and would be honored to serve on the Executive Committee again and contribute further to the work of LAUC-B. Thank you for your consideration.

I am honored to be nominated to be a Librarian Representative for the LAUC-B Executive Committee. I have been the Accessioning Archivist at the Bancroft Library since 2012 and previously worked as a project archivist and staff member at the Bancroft (since 2006). Over the last two years I have served on LAUC-B's Committee for Professional Development. My work with this committee has heightened my awareness of the challenges facing UCB librarians in the midst of both the university's fiscal restructuring and the fast-changing world of librarianship and information management. LAUC-B's efforts in defining librarians' professional role within the university cannot be understated. I welcome the opportunity to contribute to LAUC-B's efforts as representative on behalf of the library community.
Affiliated Library Representative, LAUC-B Executive Committee
Chris Marino
I am pleased to be running for the LAUC-B Executive Committee Affiliated Libraries Representative. Since 2012, I have worked in architectural archives, first at UC Santa Barbara and for the past year at the Environmental Design Archives at UC Berkeley as the Reference and Outreach Archivist. As an affiliated librarian/archivist, I understand the needs that smaller more specialized collections have and the varied issues that we face. Currently I serve on the LAUC-B Committee on Research, but I hope to become more involved in the LAUC-B community as well as advocate for the affiliated libraries and archives.
