This morning on Memorial Glade was one for the books.

Cal fans flocked to campus for ESPN’s College GameDay broadcast, airing live on Saturday — a prelude to Cal’s faceoff against Miami — and set against the stunning backdrop of Doe Library.

The Cal Band summoned school spirit and energized the audience with upbeat music. There was no shortage of stars, from the ever-ebullient Oski to former running back and NFL great Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch. And the fans’ signs were as quippy and clever as you’d expect from a Berkeley crowd. (“You people are blocking the library,” one read.)

“I am thankful to be here amongst these nerds and future geniuses,” ESPN’s Pat McAfee said during the show.

Here are some of the sights from Saturday morning.
