Announcements
1. Unit announcements
Staffing (eg. new staff hires, departures, retirements) & Unit news
C&MS: two people have retired. Their intent to replace:
Library Assistant 3 and a Library Professional 4
NRLF: Jutta Wiemhoff will retire in October. Tim Converse will serve as Interim Operations Manager through June 2020.
PFA: Nancy Goldman retired in June. Michael Campos-Quinn is serving as Interim Head.
Bancroft: An intern from Diablo Valley College is working with Randy Brandt on a new cataloging project.
New projects
C&MS is coordinating with LIT to implement SCP's policy change to split print and electronic serials resources onto separate bibliographic records. SCP print version records that provide access to online only are in the process of being marked for deletion.
LAW's repository will be moving to TIND in December.

Arts & Humanities (Adnan Malik)
There was a presentation on ways to promote CRL resources and make them more available to users.

Sciences (Heiko Muhr)
Kristen Greenland, the new Chemical and Physical Sciences Librarian, will start on 9/30.
The new exhibit "Power and the People: The U.S. Census and Who Counts" launches later this month in the Brown Gallery.
Public Services (Trina Pundurs)
[June meeting] Trina Pundurs shared news of changes to PCC punctuation practice changes. Phase 1 (terminal punctuation changes) is already underway.
[August meeting] A proposal to create a process for making changes to the A-Z Database List was discussed.
Michael Campos-Quinn will serve as the new CMC representative to PSC.
3. LIT update (Lynne Grigsby)
LIT is working with C&MS to make various necessary adjustments due to several vendor changes for Tier 3 SCP records.
UCSC has deleted their (non-special collection) local catalog records for material shelved at NRLF. LIT is attempting to use record data provided by UCSC to upgrade NRLF/UCSC records in Millennium with no OCLC#.
LIT has two open Metadata Analyst positions, with hiring decisions expected soon.
LIT is coordinating with MUSI and BAMPFA on digital projects to load into TIND.
TIND will be soft-launched on October 1.
Lynne continues to contribute to the RFP process for NRLF/SRLF's Inventory Management System (IMS) along with representatives from the RLFs.
LIT is working to get all staff's O: drives moved to Google Drive File Share by early December. For staff who use OCLC Connexion, this involves tweaking settings in Connexion to point to a new location in order to access local constant data.
4. Web Advisory Group (Sherry Lochhaas)
A proposal to improve the Staff Web was submitted to the AULs for review. Phase 1 of the proposed project would involve removal of duplicate links.
5. RDA Update (Trina Pundurs)
An update to the RDA Beta Toolkit was released in September. A webinar focusing on the Beta Toolkit is forthcoming.
6. Library Leadership Team Update (Jo Anne Newyear Ramirez)
Lead Team is discussing PPSM merit increases and equity adjustments. Once that is complete, discussion will shift to establishing criteria for new position request and approval.
2 positions approved for LIT (Metadata Analysts); 1 approved for NRLF (Deposit Services Worklead).
7. Systemwide ILS (SILS) Group Update (Randy Brandt & Lynne Grigsby)
RFP discussion is being finalized. 9xx harmonization and ILS data cleanup discussions are continuing.

8. Music Library request to adjust public displays of various fields in music bib records so that they do not show |2rda information. After discussing the benefits of the proposed changes, the Council recommended a combination of this proposal with another, similar one brought to CMC previously.
Action Item: R. Brandt, M. Campos-Quinn, and F. Ferko will combine proposals and re-present to CMC for intended recommendation to WAG.
9. C&MS newly expanded translation cuttering table (Bob Talbott)
Bob Talbott updated C&MS's local translation table to include previously missing languages. Bob plans to add to this list once per quarter as needed. If you have recommendations on languages to add, please contact Bob. The list will be located at the Cataloging Tools and Documentation, A-Z page.
