  1. Announcements (5 min)

    1. D. Jan: EndNote is getting ready to release EndNote 20 and will be moving to an institutional licensing model. D. Jan will message the sciences council list to propose a discussion with an EndNote representative; interested staff or librarians can also contact D. Jan directly.

    2. S. Powell gave a keynote at the Geo4Lib Conference on February 4th titled "Building & Sharing a Historical GIS: Insights from working with twentieth-century Mongolian maps." Slides are available online.

    3. Liaisons are encouraged to promote the UC Berkeley Elsevier Poll to their departments.

    4. A. Glusker, A. Sackmann and E. Smith presented at the Librarians Building Momentum for Reproducibility virtual conference on January 28. The keynote, presentations, slides and videos from the conference have been posted and are freely available at the LBMR program page.

  1. Moffitt Library Makerspace Plans

    1. Introduction of A. Phillips - Maker Education Service Lead; she started in May 2019 and has done an incredible job transforming the space (before and after photos).

      1. CCL - Design Development phase beginning with Architects later this month. Will last ~1 year. Then surge and construction.

      3. Jen Brown is coming on board on March 2 with a focus on space and service design

  1. Proposal for new A-Z Databases categories

    1. WAG response to Sciences Council proposals were discussed. An agreement was reached to rename "Research Tools" to "Research Workflow Tools". There was disagreement with WAG's view that suggested categories "Bioinformatics Tools" and "Materials Properties" be merged; the tools listed in the categories are distinct and we foresee purchasing more of these types of resources in the future to support new research areas and workflows.

    2. L. Ngo will take response back to WAG.

  1. Coronavirus information access

    1. Discussion of implications of publishers making papers studying Coronaviruses openly available to the public.

    2. Anyone interested in drafting an SEL blog post on this topic should contact S. Teplitzky.

    1. PSC is looking for feedback on the following items:

      1. Public workstations: comments on naming, access, policies

      2. Power outages: what information is important to highlight?

    2. Send feedback to S. Powell prior to March 5 Sciences Council for discussion.
