Agenda
DASH-Dryad integration: Librarian features and roles - D. Lowenberg
- Daniela presented some background about the upcoming DASH-Dryad integration that aims to combine some of the best features of both repositories with the aim of increasing the number of UC researchers who deposit their research data.
- The end product will be called Dryad (not DASH), and there will be a UCB-branded version that our researchers will see. The new Dryad is currently in the testing phase and is expected to launch later this year.
- Daniela would like librarians to help test the admin interface and recruit researchers to test the deposit process.
Multi-volume monograph (MVM) and serial ordering - R. Estrada-Stone
- Rico answered our questions regarding the nuances of what not to order in GOBI: MVMs / numbered series where we want all volumes under same call number; serials including proceedings and annuals; extra copies; replacement copies. Orders for these items should go through orderdiv instead. Orderdiv will likely still order them through GOBI, but they will send them through a different workflow in order to avoid cataloging problems.
Strategic Collection Development proposals prioritization - B. Quigley
- The Council discussed and ranked the three proposals.
Selectors interview with Scholarly Resources Strategy Librarian candidate - E. Smith
- Council members and other selectors will have a chance to ask the Scholarly Resources Strategy Librarian candidate questions. Elliott made a shared document to collect these questions.
CMC: Sciences Council areas of interest or concern - H. Muhr
- Heiko asked the Council for areas of interest or concern to bring back to CMC. Three topics were discussed in some detail:
- Linking or cross-referencing cataloging records for print and electronic versions of the same resource to aid patrons in resource discovery.
- Cataloging for eBooks/electronic resources generally happens in a timely fashion, but some fall through the cracks. Some examples were discussed (Debbie Jan emailed Heiko those examples).
- Occasional field mix-ups / display problems with eBooks, usually for content notes not displaying correctly.
SEL News Blog - L. Ngo<
- Lisa raised the issue that we currently lack editors for the blog, and we decided to carry on with posting to the blog as appropriate.
