Copy Photography
Copy Photography provides
professional quality photographic copies of original materials to UC
Berkeley libraries, professors, researchers, students, and the public.
Requests may be made for copies of library materials or copies of your
own original materials.
Digital Imaging Services
The Digital Imaging Laboratory
provides professional quality digital copies and scanning of original material to UC
Berkeley libraries, professors, researchers, students, and the public
requesting copies of materials or copies of their own original
materials.
Preservation Microfilming Services
The Microfilm division provides
35mm silver film copies of books, manuscripts, newspapers and other
library materials from the Library's collections. These films are produced
to meet or exceed published standards such as those issued by ANSI/ISO,
Research Libraries Group, etc., for purposes of preservation, research,
and wider accessibility.
Microfilm services are provided to campus libraries, individuals and
institutions. Individual jobs are handled through the Library Photo
Service desk as well as through campus subject specialty libraries,
Bancroft Library, and Interlibrary Services.
Copyright and Fair Use
Copyright and the "fair use" doctrine are of special concern in education
and research. As both creators and users of copyrighted and public domain
materials, it is vital that the University of California faculty,
students, and staff understand and responsibly exercise the rights
accorded them under the copyright law, particularly now in light of new
technologies and laws that challenge long-standing educational and library
exemptions and interpretations. To this end, the University of California
has created the UC Copyright
Education Web Site.
