Request Access to Gardner (MAIN) Stacks

The Stacks are open to those with a current UC ID, UC Berkeley Library Card or Stanford ID. Scholars and the general public with no such affiliation who have a research need for materials indicated as MAIN in our catalogs must make arrangements with our reference staff. Arrangements may be made either through this form or in person at the Doe Library Reference Desk. Please check for the current open hours.

Before making this request, you should use the resources of your local library, including its Interlibrary Loan service. Admission is not granted for studying, browsing, visiting with friends or family, or using the computers.

Please fill out this form as completely as possible. Permission for stack access is not automatic. You do not have permission unless you receive a positive reply from us. Also, be aware that you must present a current government-issued photo ID to enter the Gardner (MAIN) Stacks.
