Collection Description
The Library collects at a research level in the subject of Ethnic Studies
(which includes: history, literature, political science, etc.). These materials
are purchased in virtually all languages of the world and represent the ethnicities
of people from all corners of the world.
Ethnic Studies reference materials are kept in the Reference
Center
(Doe Library, Floor 2). The major part of the collection is located in the
Gardner (MAIN) Stacks, with additional materials in the Moffitt Library (UNDE,
core English-language). The Ethnic
Studies Library ,
with its departmental focus, features an Asian American Studies Collection,
the Chicano Studies Collection, and a Native American Studies Collection. Some
materials, particularly those concerned with California history and Mexico,
are housed in the Bancroft Library,
as are UC Berkeley’s manuscript and archival collections.
