Where are you located?
We are located at 410 O'Brien Hall on the north side of the UC Berkeley campus, near the North Gate entrance at Hearst & Euclid Avenues. Enter on the East side of O'Brien Hall through the breezeway connecting O'Brien and McLaughlin Halls. Once inside, O'Brien is to the right - take the stairs or elevator to the 4th floor. See the map of the libraries (Note: WRCA is in the B4 area) for detailed information.

How do I get to the library by public transportation?
BART: The nearest BART station is Downtown Berkeley (1 1/2 blocks from the West entrance to campus.
BUS: There are several AC Transit buses that provide transportation to and from campus.
See UCB's Visitor Center for more information.

How do I get to the library by car?
Find parking (see below) near the Hearst & Euclid intersection. See UCB's Visitor Center or call the library at 510-642-2666 for detailed directions.

Is parking available once I get there?
Metered parking is available on the 2nd level of the Hearst parking stucture, located on Hearst Ave., one block West of Euclid Ave. There are also hourly meters along Hearst, but be aware that finding an open spot during the academic school year can be difficult.
You may purchase a parking permit from WRCA for $14.00 (price is dependent upon campus fees and is subject to change --6/08). This permit will allow you to park for 1 day in either of the two campus parking lots located on Hearst Avenue. If you contact the library before you visit, we can mail you the permit in advance. Otherwise, you can park at one of the many 1-hour meters along Hearst and purchase the permit at the library. Please contact the Archive, 510-642-2666, for additional parking information. For more campus-related transporation and parking questions, call UCB Parking & Transportation at 510-643-5790.
Due to limited parking, we do recommend you use public transportation.

Who can use the Archives?
WRCA serves faculty, students and staff at all nine UC campuses as well as the general public. You do not need a UC Library card to borrow from this library. Patrons wishing to become registered WRCA borrowers must show valid photo identification. Please see our Circulation Policies for additional information.

How can I find out what is in your collection?
Our holdings are listed in the Melvyl catalog, the University of California's online system, and NOT in Gladis. Our identifying symbol is WRCA. For additional information about accessing the collection, please see How to Find WRCA Materials.

Are all items available to be borrowed?
A large portion of our collection does circulate, however, items from the reference, law, manuscript, or locked cage collections and items published prior to 1970 do not. For additional information, please see How to Find WRCA Materials and Circulation Policies.

After-Hours Book Return Do you have an after-hours drop box?
YES! The drop box is located outside on the east side of O'Brien Hall. It's big and blue; you can't miss it. You may also use a mail service to return the books, however, it is preferable that you return borrowed items in person. Videos and other limited circulation (i.e, fragile, unique) items should not be dropped in the after-hours box, but should be returned to the WRCA circulation desk in 410 O'Brien Hall. Please do not return WRCA materials to other campus libraries. Remember that you are responsible for the books until they are returned to this library.

Can I renew books online?
No, WRCA books are not represented in GLADIS inventory queries. However, most WRCA items may be renewed by telephone (510-642-2666), fax(510-642-9143), or electronically. Please provide the call number of each item you would like to renew. See our Circulation Policies for more information.

Can I borrow from your library if I do not live in the area?
Yes, we have an Interlibrary Loan Service and we take requests via OCLC and directly by e-request, fax (510-642-9143), or telephone (510-642-2666). If the item needed is non-circulating, arrangements may be made to photocopy the material, in compliance with copyright restrictions.
