OskiCat is the UC Berkeley library catalog.
It replaced Pathfinder and GLADIS in 2009.

»  Use OskiCat now
»  Use the quick guide
»  See below for what you should do

Smarter than your average bear
With OskiCat you can:

  • Find books and journals from more UCB campus libraries.
  • Limit results to your preferred libraries.
  • Limit results to available items.
  • Limit results to online items (over 400,000 linked).
  • Find course reserves quickly and easily.
  • View status of individual volumes and journal issues.

You can sign into "My OskiCat" to:

  • Save and e-mail your search results.
  • View your list of items checked out, and renew items.
  • Get e-mail notices when your items are about to be due.
  • Request items checked out to another borrower.
  • Get updates on items you have requested from storage.

What's included?
OskiCat includes materials in most, but not all, libraries on the UC Berkeley campus [Details].

The Stanford University Library catalog cannot be searched, or their items requested, through OskiCat. However, you can search their catalog directly, and UC Berkeley graduate students, faculty, and academic staff can request items.

What about Melvyl?
Melvyl is the catalog for all UC campus libraries, and can also be used to search libraries worldwide. You should use Melvyl when looking for materials outside UC Berkeley. See Guide to Library Catalogs.

What should I do?
With this new computer system, some of our policies are changing.

  • Update your email address.
We are going paperless! From now on, we'll be sending only email notices.
Here's how to make sure we have your correct e-mail address:
»  UCB students, faculty, and staff: use CalNet Manage Your Identity.
»  Borrowers not affiliated with UCB: within OskiCat, use "My OskiCat."
»  You can also update your address at any Library Circulation Desk.

  • Return library materials you no longer need.
The maximum number of items you can have checked out at one time is 100 for undergraduates and staff; 200 for graduate students, Visiting Scholars, and post-docs; 300 for faculty; and 20 for other borrowers.

  • Plan ahead.
There is now a limit of 3 renewals on one-year loans, and 11 renewals on most other loans. If you have a billed item that has not been returned, your account may be blocked.

  • Take advantage of "My OskiCat."
Once logged into My OskiCat, you can renew books, request items, check the status of holds and recalls, save lists of items, save "preferred searches" to run later, update your contact information, and see any fines, bills, or blocks on your account.

Log in using the number printed on your Cal 1 Card or Library Borrower's Card, and your Library PIN number.

Please be patient!
This is a very complex transition. Despite extensive planning and training, some problems will undoubtedly occur. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve them.
