ticTocs - a Table of Contents Aggregator
ticTOCs is a free service from a non-profit consortium of universities and publishers. It provides an easy way to subscribe to tables of contents from many journals all in one place. Go to www.tictocs.ac.uk to sign up.
- Once you're signed in, start by searching for journals that you are interested in following on the left side of the page.
- In the search results, check off the titles you desire, and click Add selected to MyTOCs. Those titles will subsequently show up on the right side of the page.
- You can set up alerts one journal at a time by clicking on the journal title and then choosing Export feed to... in the center pane.
On the tab or page that opens, you can then choose
-
E-mail
- the RSS feed reader you use (such as Google Reader or Netvibes)
- or RSS Feed, if your reader of choice is not listed
- To set up multiple journal alerts at once: In the right pane check off the journals you want, or simply choose Select All. Then click Export Selected.
- This prompts your computer to save a file called tictocs.opml.
- Next go to your RSS reader and import this file.
- In Google Reader, do this by clicking Manage Subscriptions and then the Import/Export tab. Browse for your .opml file and click Upload.
- In Netvibes, click on Add Content in the top left corner of the page. Under the Add Feed box, click on the small link that says OPML: Import. Click Browse to locate your .opml file and click Import.
